# How a billing threshold works

If you are paying by [bank card](/signup-billing/payments/card), Nebius normally charges you monthly for your [pay-as-you-go usage](/signup-billing/billing-models/payg). However, if you spend a certain amount, you can reach a *billing threshold*. It is a spending level that triggers an automatic attempt to charge your bank card.

## How the threshold amount is calculated

The billing threshold amount depends on a combination of factors including but not limited to the following:

* Billing account region and currency.
* Number of Nebius AI Cloud services in use.
* Your payment and services usage history.

### What happens if the threshold charge fails

Keep an eye on spending in the [Billing](https://console.nebius.com/billing/) section and top up the balance so it remains positive. To get alerted as your spending grows, set up a [budget](/signup-billing/budgets).

If your bank card balance is insufficient on the day of the threshold charge, your account and access to the resources may be suspended.
